If you have a little extra time and love theatre, pop over to Shakespeare’s Globe nearby. This authentic reconstruction of the Elizabethan playhouse hosts productions of the Bard’s famous plays, and even if you don’t catch a show, the guided tours are fascinating.
Late Morning: Borough Market & The Shard
Just a short walk from Tate Modern, you’ll find Borough Market, one of London’s oldest and most beloved food markets. Whether you’re craving artisanal cheese, fresh pastries, or mouthwatering street food, Borough Market is the place to indulge. Don’t forget to grab a coffee and some snacks for later. Make sure to wait on line for the famous strawberries covered in warm chocolate! YUM!
Once you’ve had your fill of food, head toward The Shard, Western Europe’s tallest building. The Shard’s viewing platform on the 72nd floor offers unparalleled panoramic views of London. On a clear day, you can see for miles, from the sprawling skyline to the winding Thames River below. It’s a great spot for that perfect Instagram shot!
Afternoon: London Bridge, Tower Bridge & Tower of London
After taking in the sights from above, it’s time to explore some of London’s most famous landmarks. Walk over to London Bridge, one of the city’s oldest and most iconic crossings of the Thames. While you’re at it, take a moment to marvel at Tower Bridge—the world-famous bascule bridge with its striking twin towers. You can even go up to the glass-floored walkways for a unique view of the traffic below.
Next up: The Tower of London. This 1,000-year-old fortress has seen everything from royal executions to the storage of the Crown Jewels. You can easily spend a couple of hours here exploring the history and learning about its intriguing past.
Late Afternoon: St. Katharine Docks & Sky Garden
Wind down with a stroll around St. Katharine Docks, a picturesque marina just next to the Tower of London. It’s a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city, perfect for grabbing a bite at one of the riverside restaurants or cafes.
End the day with a visit to the Sky Garden. The entrance is free, but you do need to book tickets in advance. This public garden, perched on the 35th floor of the Walkie Talkie building, offers stunning 360-degree views of the city, especially at sunset.

The Tower Bridge has the option to buy tickets for a tour and to walk across the glass floor for an amazing photo opportunity.
The Tower of London is a real highlight. Be sure to take the Yoeman tour that is included in you admission ticket and starts every half hour.
Day 2: Royal Landmarks & Family Fun
Morning: Trafalgar Square & Buckingham Palace
Start your second day in London with a visit to Trafalgar Square, home to Nelson’s Column and the National Gallery. The square itself is often buzzing with activity, so take a moment to soak in the atmosphere before heading to Buckingham Palace.
